What Is the SEDGE Crochet Stitch?

The Sedge Crochet Stitch is a cousin to the Wattle Stitch. Consists of a cluster crochet stitch of single crochet, half double and single crochet. Works up quick and has a nice soft squishy texture when complete!

Abbreviations

YO – Yarn Over

REP – Repeat

DC – Double Crochet

CH – Chain

SC – Single Crochet

 

ST – Stitch

HDC – Half Double Crochet

 

Single Crochet (SC) – Insert your hook, YO pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops.

Half Double Crochet (HDC) – YO, insert your hook, YO pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops, YO and pull through remaining two loops.

Double Crochet (DC) – YO, insert your hook, YO pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops, YO and pull through remaining two loops.

Written Instructions

Chain – Multiple of 3

In 2nd CH from hook, work 1 HDC and 1 DC. CH 2. *SK 2 Ch. In the next CH work SC, HDC, DC. REP from * across row until 1 CH left. SC in final CH. CH1 and Turn.

ROUND 2:

Work 1 HDC and 1 DC into the top of SC of row below. *SK 2 ST, then SC, HDC, DC in next ST. REP from * across row ending with SC in last ST. CH1 and Turn.
