Holly Jolly Moss Stitch Crochet Blanket

Hello and Welcome!

If you’re looking for something quick and easy, the moss stitch is the ticket. This is one of our go to stitches because it works up so fast.

Even better, we paired the moss crochet stitch with a super simple color pattern, just in time for the holidays! This blanket features  Premier Basix in red, white and greens, but if Christmas colors aren’t your gif, you can easily substitute any color way!

Inspired by a classic candy cane this blanket works up quick and is super fun!

In today’s post I will share everything you need to make the lovey, but if you’re interested in making this bigger you can get the downloadable pdf HERE.

Row Counts

The graphic above is a digital mock up of the finished blanket.

REPEAT FROM * TO ** 3x

Want an easy way to keep track of each row? We sure do, so we include row trackers in our PDF’s! You can download that HERE.  I don’t know about you, but if I don’t have something to physically check off, I spend more time counting and recounting instead of crocheting!

***Yarn quantities and measurements include border. ***

TIPS

While the Moss stitch is super easy to crochet, we have a few tips for ya to make it (hopefully) smooth sailing. You can always do what works the best for you, but these are what we find to be tried and true for us!

  • It’s a good idea to weave in ends with a darning needle instead of crocheting over them.
  • Carry your yarn up the sides whenever you can! It’ll help save time.
  • Choose any border you like, but a wide border will look best!

BORDER

We went for a wide ribbed border on this one. It’s one round single crochet, then 3 total rounds of the ribbed border itself. We went with the green because we had a bunch left from the blanket, but either red or white would be nice too!

Alternatives

Sometimes it’s easier to shop your stash so we worked out some alternative brands for ya. We’ve matched each one in person so we know first hand they’ll play nice and look lovely! To see the exact amounts of each you will need to purchase and download the pdf. You can do that HERE.
