What Is the Granny Spike Crochet Stitch?

The Granny Spike uses the traditional three double crochet granny cluster, but, instead of  working the cluster into a chain space, you work the middle double crochet from the cluster into the middle double crochet from the row below, creating a “spike” look to the stitch. This is a simple stitch and should be fairly beginner friendly.

YO – Yarn Over

REP – Repeat

DC – Double Crochet

CH – Chain

SK – Skip

DC CL – Double Crochet Cluster

ST – Stitch

SP – Space

Double Crochet (DC) – YO, insert your hook, YO pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops, YO and pull through remaining two loops.

Double Crochet CLUSTER (DC CL) – Three (3) DC in the same space.
